A companion for a nice evening - why not?

My name is Janine and I'm unemployed. My boss fired me three months ago and I haven't been able to find a suitable job since. My job had stopped being fun for me a long time ago. Every day I was stuck in the office for 11 hours. Overtime was the norm and nobody could push back.

I couldn't go on like that, so from then on I packed up my things after nine hours. My boss let me go with the words: "There are five people out there waiting for your job." On the one hand I'm relieved, on the other hand it's a disaster.

Possible motives:

  • A sense of adventure.
  • Financial need.
  • Earning a lot of money easily & quickly.
  • Meeting new people.
  • You need validation.

My ad: Accompanying executives

I came up with the idea of placing an ad. "Accompanying executives" was the motto. I ran the ad in 5 different major daily newspapers across the country. And sure enough, a few inquiries came in. My concept wasn't even settled yet and I was already having the first preliminary phone calls.

I went with my gut feeling and decided to meet three men. My rate came to $90 an hour plus expenses. Very clear motto: no sex. Two of my potential clients showed interest and wanted to hire my companion service.

It was my big chance: "accompanying executives"

I never could have guessed that this is how I'd land a dream job. With my very first assignment, I met my future boss. As the chief financial officer of a large corporation, he was looking for a new assistant. I was thrilled, especially about my new place of work. It was going to be Vienna. Vienna is my absolute dream city and I could hardly believe it.

Three weeks later my new job began. I commuted for the first four months and then I packed up my things and moved to the city of the Prater. I love this city, even though I haven't made any friends yet.

Next week I'm starting at a gym and I'd like to take a salsa dance class. I'm assuming I'll make new friends.

Things with my boss are really going great and we've agreed to keep things confidential. He's fair and my pay is great. I have a regular 8 to 9 hour day and we've agreed that I stay longer when he needs me. When he's traveling, I can head home at 2 p.m. We have a great deal of mutual trust.

It's good to just try something out! One thing in life is certain: everything keeps changing!
